Spiders

Reduce clutter and webbing, seal obvious gaps and avoid handling unknown spiders. Large dark hairy spiders in eastern NSW require extra caution.

Rodents

Look for droppings, gnawing, grease marks and night-time noise. Never touch or relocate installed bait stations; call the technician responsible.

Cockroaches

Activity often clusters around warmth, moisture, food residue and tight harbourage. Cleaning helps, but established infestations usually need targeted treatment.

Ants

Avoid randomly spraying trails before identification—it can scatter some colonies or make the source harder to locate.

Termites

Mud leads, hollow timber, blistering finishes and discarded wings can be warning signs. Do not disturb suspected live activity.

Pesticide or rodent-bait exposure

Don’t wait for symptoms.

Products contain different active ingredients and some effects can be delayed. Call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 for any suspected exposure—even if the person feels well.

  1. Protect yourself. Move the person away from the source only if safe.
  2. Swallowed: rinse the mouth. Do not induce vomiting or give anything unless Poisons Information Centre directs you.
  3. Inhaled: move to fresh air without exposing yourself.
  4. Skin: remove contaminated clothing carefully and rinse thoroughly with running water, then wash gently with soap and water.
  5. Eyes: hold eyelids open and flush continuously with clean water for at least 15 minutes, or longer if directed.
  6. Keep the label, container, Safety Data Sheet or a clear photo ready.
